Tatting & Turtles

The turtles are painted in oils from a photo taken while on vacation in Cozumel, Mexico. I also have a painting of dolphins that go with this but I will post that another time.

I've been working on little bits of tatting. Here are a couple I can show. The rest are going to someone so I can't show those. I'm trying to come out of my shell and try other size tatting thread other than size 80 so I tried size 40 and it felt like I was tatting with cord. I see a lot of other tatters using size 20 so I bought some of that but haven't tried it yet. What about silk thread? Can someone tell me what that's like to tat with? I've been reading other tatting blogs and trying to get current with what's going on. I welcome any advice or hints.

Thanks for stopping by.

OMG, just wait till tisme sees that painting. She loves sea turtles and just got a tattoo of one. Your painting is awesome.
Now, as for your tatting, I can't offer any advice, I think it's great.

The light coming from the bottom of the ocean looks so real.

I think you know more about tatting then most of us!

I almost died when I saw those turtles!!!! I just popped on before bed, and you are on my sidebar on my blog. When I saw Tatting and Turtles as your newest post, I popped over immediatly!! I absolutely love that painting! I did just get a sea turtle tattooed on my foot about two weeks ago. I am just amazed at it.
I love, love it. And your tatting is amazing too. You are so very talented, it must run in the family, I knew your sister was, and you are too. :)

Silk feels marvelous. Changing thread sizes can really play with your mind. I started with size 10 and after tatting with size 40 for awhile, 10 felt like rope.
